The three decades prior to the 1979 Revolution saw increased international recognition of Iranian artists that included their participation in the Venice Biennale and other art festivals. Comprising more than 100 artworks, Iran Modern is the first international loan exhibition to chronicle the vibrant period of Iran’s formative and pluralist modern art.

Exhibition curators: Fereshteh Daftari and Layla S. Diba

An illustrated catalogue published by Asia Society Museum accompanies the exhibition.

Iran Modern will be on view September 6, 2013 to January 5, 2014.
